Study visit of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms to the Republic of Slovenia has started with a meeting with Ambassador of Montenegro to the Republic of Slovenia H.E. Vujica Lazović in the premises of the Embassy of Montenegro.

On day one of the study visit a meeting was organised with honorary consul of Montenegro Mr Vojislav Kovač and presidents of all Montenegrin associations in the Republic of Slovenia. Presidents of Montenegrin associations informed MPs about the establishment, activities, membership and key activities directed towards preserving Montenegrin culture, language and tradition, in other words - everything that marks Montenegrin identity. All associations are multi-confessional and multi-national, with the aim of not being politically "infected" because they are bound by the same thread-love for Montenegro. Also, they informed about challenges and problems they faced.

Meeting with the Ambassador and representatives of Montenegrin diaspora organised on day one of the study visit was positively assessed, because these meetings have provided significant information that members of the Committee’s delegation would use in the upcoming conversations with representatives of the institutions responsible for human rights and minority policy to the Republic of Slovenia.

The visit will be continued tomorrow when members of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms will visit the Ministry of Culture - Office for Cultural Diversity and Human Rights and the Bureau for Religious Communities.
