Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms holds its 37th meeting

Na 37. sjednici Odbora za ljudska prava i slobode razmotren je Izvještaj o radu Fonda za zaštitu i ostvarivanje manjinskih prava za 2018. godinu.

At the 37th meeting of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms that was held on 23 April 2019, the 2018 Performance Report of the Fund for Protection and Exercising of Minority Rights was considered.

Chairperson and members of the Committee expressed their satisfaction that the Report was submitted to the Parliament within the statutory period and assessed that it was prepared well, quality and quantity wise.

Member of the Committee, Mr Mihailo Anđušić, was of the opinion that the Fund distributed funds in a quality manner, with a reduced risk of potential conflict of interest during the process.

Mr Suad Numanović, MP, pointed out that the results of the application of the Law on Minority Rights and Freedoms have been visible, which created the assumption that high quality multinational projects attracted attention.

Mr Mirsad Murić, member of the Committee, commended the Fund for the Protection and the Exercise of Minority Rights for abiding by the recommendations and conclusions of the Parliament and for taking into account the territorial principle and multinational projects in the process of allocating funds.

Mr Ervin Ibrahimović, MP, believes that thanks to the projects of the Fund during the last ten years, younger generations have been enabled to learn about all the beauties of Montenegro.

Committee member, Mr Momčilo Martinović, emphasised that in the process of drafting the report on the implementation of projects, special attention should be paid to the results that could be measured, so that the citizens of Montenegro and the consumers of these activities would have an insight into the new values obtained by the implementation of these projects.

Chairperson of the Committee, Mr Halil Duković, commended the work of the Fund and assessed positively the practice of the Commission for the Evaluation that allocated funds to only the best and the highest quality projects.

After the discussion, the Committee unanimously endorsed the 2018 Performance Report of the Fund for Protection and Exercising of Minority Rights that will be followed by the report to the Parliament of Montenegro with the Proposal of the Conclusion.

After that, the Committee unanimously adopted the Information note on participation of Mr Momčilo Martinović, member of the Committee on Human Rights and Freedoms, in the Public Debate on the Draft Strategy for Exercising Rights of the Child in Montenegro 2019-2023, held in Podgorica on 16 April 2019 and the Information note from the Public Debate on "Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Education Curricula", held in Podgorica on 16 April 2019.
