On Friday 28 June 2019, Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mr Radule Novović attended the press conference on the presentation of key findings of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS), carried out in 2018 by the Statistical Office of Montenegro, with the technical assistance provided by UNICEF, and financial support of the government of Montenegro, UNICEF, and UNHCR.

MICS is a global research programme developed by UNICEF through consultations with other United Nations agencies. MICS is designed to provide statistically sound and internationally comparable data for key social indicators and it is targeted at the most sensitive part of the population: women, children and vulnerable and marginalized population groups. The results of this survey are one of the most important databases, and for many indicators related to health, development and education of children, youth and women, MICS is the only source of data.

The MICS key findings at the press conference were presented by Head of the UNICEF Representative Office to Montenegro Mr Osama Makkawi Khogali, Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro for economic policy and financial system Mr Milutin Simović, and director of the Statistical Office of Montenegro Ms Gordana Radojević.

The MICS provides data relating to the position of women and children, as well as key indicators following the country’s development in accordance with the SDGs, European integration and other national and international strategies. The Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS 2013) in Montenegro and the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey for Roma neighbourhoods in Montenegro were last time done in 2013 by the Statistical Office of Montenegro - MONSTAT.
