Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee at the World Conference of Women in the Security Sector

Predsjednica Odbora za rodnu ravnopravnost Nada Drobnjak, govorila je danas na otvaranju Svjetske konferencije žena u sektoru bezbjednosti, koja se održava u Budvi.

Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak, today spoke at the opening of the World Conference of Women in the Security Sector, held in Budva.

In her address to the conference participants, Chairperson of the Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak said that Montenegro, through the formation of a normative framework as well as through practice, was creating a context where men and women would be equal and stressed the success in raising the level of gender equality in the security sector. Also, the Chairperson of the Committee spoke on the activities of the Gender Equality Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro.

During the conference, attended by representatives of 18 countries, Chairperson of the Gender Equality Committee Ms Nada Drobnjak met Ms Clare Hutchinson, NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security.

The following delivered introductory remarks: Mr Veselin Veljović, Director of the Police Directorate of Montenegro; Mr Dragan Pejanovic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs; Boban Šaranović,Director of the Montenegrin Police Academy;  Ms Clare Hutchinson, NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security; Ambassador Maryse Daviet, Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro;  H.E. Ms Judy Rising Reinke, U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro; Mr Paulo Costa, Head of the Police Program at the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), Ms Rasa Ostrauskaite, Co-ordinator of Activities to Address Transnational Threats at the OSCE Office in Vienna, and Mr Ricardo Valdas, President of the Association of European Police Unions.
