In addition to the members of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare, the meeting was attended by: Mr Miro Knežević, Director General of Directorate for Public Health at the Ministry of Health of Montenegro, Ms Đurđica Ostojić, from the Public Health Institute of Montenegro, and Mr Vladimir Todorović, Director of the Clinic for Oncology and Radiotherapy at the Clinical Centre of Montenegro.
Chairperson of the Committee Mr Suad Numanović pointed out that the disease could not be prevented, but that regular check-ups contributed to its early detection. He also said that, both for women and men, all methods of treatment were available, but that in practice there were frequent reports that women sought help at very advanced stages, when the methods for treatment were limited.
In their addresses, Ms Đurđica Ostojić and Mr Vladimir Todorović pointed out the significance of early detection of the disease. Furthermore, they have also given a series of statistical data.
Chairperson of the Committee Mr Suad Numanović pointed out that the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare was open for cooperation in implementing the programmes undertaken in relation to this area, and invited the Committee members to propose the conclusions which, following their adoption, would be forwarded to the authorities in charge of their implementation.
