Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare holds its Thirteenth Meeting

The Committee considered two items of the agenda

At its meeting held today, the Committee adopted the conclusions proposed with regard to its Twelfth Meeting dedicated to the month of breast cancer awareness.  It was noted that the adopted conclusions would be forwarded to the institutions responsible for their implementation.

The conclusions are as follows:

  1. The Committee supports previous activities of the Ministry of Health and the Public Health Institute of Montenegro in prevention and early discovery of breast cancer.
  2. The Committee recommends to the Ministry of Health to consider the possibility of providing necessary funds for maintenance of the current analogue mammographs, through their participation in drafting the Proposal for the 2018 Budget Law of Montenegro, as well as to consider the procurement of two digital mammographs aimed at higher quality of diagnosing breast cancer.
  3. The Committee recommends to the Ministry of Health to do a feasibility analysis of procurement of medical equipment for capital budget.
  4. The Committee recommends to the Ministry of Health and the Public Health Institute of Montenegro to intensify activities on implementation of national programme for prevention and early detection of breast cancer.
  5. The Committee recommends greater participation of women and men and responsible institutions in breast cancer prevention.

Under the item of the agenda “current issues”, the Committee members learned about the activities of the Chairperson of the Committee and proposed to organise study visits to the parliaments of the countries in the region and the European Union. 

The agreed that the Committee planned visits to the Public Institution Daycare Centre for Children and Youth with Developmental Disabilities of the Capital City of Podgorica and the Public Institution Resource Centre for Children and Youth “Podgorica” - Podgorica, as well as daycare centres in the north of Montenegro. Furthermore, the Committee initiated the idea to review the functioning of the healthcare system during the summer tourism season.
