Study visit of the delegation of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare to the Croatian Parliament

On 12 June 2019, members of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare of the Parliament of Montenegro will pay a study visit to the Republic of Croatia.

The study visit will include meetings with the Labour, Retirement System and Social Partnership Committee, Health and Social Policy Committee, and European Affairs Committee of the Croatian Parliament.

It was planned, among other things, to have topics of discussion relating to the retirement system reform, seasonal employment and primary health care. The age limit for being entitled to retirement for full length of service is a current issue in the negotiations of social partners in the Social Council, and it is announced that the proposal for the law on this topic will soon be handled by the Parliament of Montenegro and the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare as the line committee.

Year after year, the problem of seasonal employment has been very prominent in Montenegro, especially in tourism. Bearing in mind that in the Republic of Croatia tourism is also one of the most significant branches of industry, there is a very pronounced demand for seasonal labour force in that country as well. Due to this, it is very significant for the delegation of the Committee to learn through conversations with their counterparts from the Croatian Parliament how they are solving the problem of qualified labour force deficit in tourism.

Primary health care, and within it the institute of family physician, for over a decade has been present in the health care system of Montenegro, which is a sufficient period to see in practice its good and bad sides. Due to this it is useful for the delegation of the Committee to exchange experiences about it with the colleagues in charge of this in the Croatian Parliament.

Furthermore, the delegation of the Committee will meet with the Montenegro-Croatia Interparliamentary Friendship Group.

The delegation of the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare will be represented by the Chairperson of the Committee Mr Suad Numanović and members of the Committee Ms Maja Bakrač and Mr Nedžad Drešević.
