At its meeting held today, the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare held a consultative hearing of Minister of Health Mr Kenan Hrapović on the topic: “Situation in Montenegro regarding the global pandemic declared by the World Health Organisation, caused by the emergence of new coronavirus strain“.
For the purpose of obtaining the necessary information and expert opinions, pursuant to article 67 paragraph 2 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Montenegro, the following attended the meeting: Ms Slađana Pavlović, Director General of the Directorate for International Cooperation and Harmonisation of Regulation at the Ministry of Health; Mr Miro Knežević, Director General of the Directorate for Public Health and Programme Health Protection at the Ministry of Health; Mr Dragan Pejanović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Interior; Mr Dalibor Milošević, Director General of the Directorate for Road Transport at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs; Mr Boban Mugoša, Director of the Public Health Institute of Montenegro; Mr Senad Begić, Assistant Director for Medical and Public Health Affairs at the Public Health Institute of Montenegro; Ms Mina Brajović, Head of Office of World Health Organisation in Montenegro; Ms Marina Ratković, Medical Director at the Clinical Centre of Montenegro; Mr Nebojša Kavarić, Director of the Primary Health Care Centre Podgorica; and Mr Alija Košuta, Director of the Administration for Inspection Affairs.
Pursuant to Article 55 paragraph 2 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Montenegro, the following participated in the meeting: Ms Danijela Pavićević, Mr Srđan Milić, Mr Branko Radulović, Ms Branka Bošnjak, and Mr Predrag Bulatović.
During the discussion, the Committee members, as well as the invitees, voiced numerous opinions and views, at the same time providing proposals and suggestions significant for the situation in Montenegro regarding the global pandemic.
The discussion included questions, which, among other things, referred to the following: the health care system of Montenegro with special reference to primary health care, continuous work with regard to the improvement of the health care system, introduction of measures and recommendations for preventing the imported cases of coronavirus, health and economic crisis, importance of mental health within the current epidemiological situation, gratitude to health care workers for their track record in combating coronavirus, gratitude to the citizens and their responsibility, both towards themselves and others, but also the possible new wave of coronavirus. They also discussed investing in preparedness and prevention in order to protect the health and lives of citizens, the preventive treatment by inspection bodies in controlling the observation of measures of self-quarantine, as well as the compensation for separate living to resident physicians, who, with their work, contributed to combating coronavirus.
In accordance with the discussion at the Committee meeting, it was pointed out, among other things, to the fact that the institutions of the system in a timely and effective manner responded to the emergence of the coronavirus outbreak and that the health care system acted in a responsible, professional, timely, targeted and effective manner.
Following the discussion, it was agreed that members of the Committee would establish the proposal for conclusions with regard to the held consultative hearing, for the purpose of adopting them at one of the following meetings and submitting them to the bodies responsible for their implementation.
