Day two of the Interparliamentary meeting of the NATO PA and the European Parliament

Countering New Threats Together - A New Era of EU-NATO Cooperation

Member of the Parliament of Montenegro's Permanent Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić took part in the Interparliamentary meeting with the European Parliament's Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, on the topic: Countering New Threats Together - A New Era of EU-NATO Cooperation. The meeting was held in cooperation with the Centre for Democratic Control of the Armed Forces (DCAF) from Geneva, on 4 and 5 June in Brussels.

On day two of the Interparliamentary meeting, held in the European Union Military Staff (EUMS), the participants were addressed by Colonel Ramon Ribas, Branch Chief of EU Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC), on the topic “Boots on the ground”.

This was followed by a presentation of Major General Daniel Grammatico, Chief of Staff of the MPCC, who presented the activities currently implemented by NATO in order to ensure peace and security for all citizens, with a review of the most significant achievements in this respect over the past period. He also presented current challenges and plans for the forthcoming period, followed by a time for a debate of the participants of the Interparliamentary meeting.

This meeting was an opportunity for participants to discuss the roles of NATO and the European Union in the security system, with a special focus on strengthening cooperation and possible enhancement thereof.

During the seminar, senior lecturers from NATO and the EU addressed the delegates, with a view to presenting current information in the field, reviewing expectations and priorities from EU and NATO meetings. Also, this was an opportunity for them to discuss current security issues and ways to strengthen and improve relations between the EU and NATO.
