Meeting Mr Stanišić - Mr Xhaferi

During the visit of the Economics and Security Committee - Sub-Committee on Transition and Development to Skopje, Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić, member of the Parliament of Montenegro's Permanent Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, had a separate meeting with President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia Mr Talat Xhaferi.

On this occasion, in a friendly conversation, Mr Stanišić voiced his sincere congratulations to the host on the results achieved on the path of the Euro-Atlantic integration in the previous period and beyond, pointing out that, for the Western Balkans countries, the NATO membership represented a strategic goal, emphasising on this occasion the importance of support by the countries in the region towards as successful as possible achievement of the common goal - collective security.

In the context of North Macedonia’s NATO membership, Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić wished the President of the Assembly Mr Talat Xhaferi a speedy ratification of the Protocol on Accession by the parliaments of all member states, emphasising on this occasion that the North Macedonia’s NATO membership would further strengthen the stability of the region, and thus Europe and beyond.

In his concluding remarks, Mr Stanišić said that the progress made on the political agenda in North Macedonia in the recent period, also accompanied by other measurable results on the path of the Euro-Atlantic integration, clearly showed that the doors of the Alliance were open for aspirant countries, emphasising on this occasion that Montenegro, as a full member of the Alliance, would continue to provide its strong support.

President of the Assembly Mr Talat Xhaferi thanked for the prompt ratification of the Accession Protocol in the Parliament of Montenegro and the support that our country provided to the Republic of North Macedonia on its path to the Euro-Atlantic integration.
