Topic of the seminar: “The Western Balkans: Transition Challenges, European Aspirations and Links to the MENA Region”
The event will be hosted by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) in cooperation with the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the period 21-23. The seminar will bring together over 100 participants, from NATO member states and partner countries, senior officials mainly from the host country and representatives of international organisations, non-governmental sector, universities and the public.
Seminar on the topic: “The Western Balkans: Transition Challenges, European Aspirations and Links to the MENA Region” will be majorly devoted to topics such as: Prospects for the enlargement of the EU and NATO in the Western Balkans; Political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina; Regional issues and cooperation in the Western Balkans; Raising the level of rule of law and democratic institutions; Issues of migration and refugee crisis; Combating terrorism and radicalism in the region; and Defence reform and security.
The basic objective of this event of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly is to provide a forum for discussion and facilitate dialogue at parliamentary level on security issues among main legislators of NATO countries and their counterparts from partnering countries, as well as to provide current information from the said field to the participants.
