Spring Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly begins

Day one of the Spring Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly has begun with the meeting of secretaries off delegation during which, for the purpose of successful organisation of the gathering, the participants were provided with detailed information of organisational and technical nature as well as instructions for successful holding of the NATO PA Spring Session, while the activities of the Committee for the upcoming period were presented.

On this occasion the attention of the participants was focused on information regarding the undertaken activities for preparation of the 63rd Annual Session of the NATO PA, which will be held in Bucharest, Romania, in the period 7-10 October 2017, and other activities planned for the upcoming period.

This was followed by the Standing Committee meeting, and then the Joint Meeting of NATO-Georgia Interparliamentary Council which was attended, by invitation, by Head of Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the NATO PA Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić.

During the meeting of the Standing Committee, with regard to consideration of proposal for amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the Parliamentary Assembly relating to Montenegro’s upcoming membership in NATO, Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić, Head of Permanent Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro, voiced words of sincere gratitude to all NATO members which, in a year, from Iceland to Spain, ratified the NATO Accession Protocol for Montenegro and he pointed out that the offered support would significantly influence the future work. On this occasion, Mr Stanišić thanked his colleagues, members of permanent delegations to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, for their contribution to Montenegro’s entrance in the elite society such as NATO.

The Spring Session in Tbilisi has gathered approximately 300 parliamentarians from 28 NATO member states, from North America and Europe, as well as delegates from partner countries and observer countries, with a goal to consider current security issues and draft reports of the Parliamentary Assembly’s committees.
