95th NATO PA Rose-Roth Seminar ends

Member of the Permanent Delegation in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Mr Obrad Mišo Stanišić, participated in the work of the Seminar

On the third day of the Seminar, Session VI, moderated by Mr Osman Askin Bak from Turkey, Special Rapporteur of the Science and Technology Committee and UNIC Member, included discussion on "Supporting Growth in the Black Sea Region", and presenttions were deliverd by: Ms Dominika Krois, OSCE representative, coordinator from the Division for Eastern Partnership at the European External Action Service regional cooperation & OSCE; Mr Igor Burakovsky, Head of the Board of The Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting (IER), and Mr Julian Popov, representative of the European Climate Foundation.

The discussion in this part of the Seminar was mostly dedicated to the issues of the political situation in the Black Sea region, current challenges, ways of supporting the region, the participants in this process and expected results.

During the Session VII, dedicated to the "Political and Economic Situation in the Republic of Moldova", with the moderation by Mr Menno Knip from Netherlands, Chairperson of the Sub-Committee on Transition and Development of the Economics and Security Committee, participant of the Seminar were addressed by Mr Ruslan Piontkivsky, World Bank Senior Country Economist for Moldova, and Ms Cristina Gherasimov, Academy Robert Bosch Fellow of the Russia and Eurasia Programme.

The discussion followed, mostly dedicated to the situation in Moldova, with a special focus on the issues of political, economic and security character, the process of Euro-Atlantic integration and public opinion support, the relationship with the European Union and the expectations for the future.

95th NATO PA Rose-Roth Seminar ends today.

NATO Parliamentary Assembly, in cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and with the support of the Government of Switzerland and the NATO Information and Documentation Centre in Ukraine (NIDC), organised the 95th Rose-Roth Seminar, with the topic "Towards a Secure and Stable Ukraine and Black Sea Region", held in the period 3-5 July.

This NATO PA Seminar had the aim - to provide a parliamentary-level forum regarding security issues between leading lawmakers of NATO Member States and their counterparts from partner countries and implement discussions on internal and external challenges that Ukraine has been facing, security in the region of the Black Sea, possibilities of closer economic cooperation in this area, and during discussions make a retrospection of the situation in Moldova.

The Seminar gathered around 100 participants, parliamentarians from NATO Member States and partner countries, representatives of governments and international organisations, non-governmental sector, universities, and representatives of public opinion.
