Head of Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Mr Predrag Sekulić takes part in the PACE Summer Session which has started today in Strasbourg.
The five-day Session is dedicated to considering the issues related to the position of NGOs in certain Council of Europe member states, the protection of human rights defenders, the economic empowerment of women, forced marriage in Europe, and striking a balance between the best interest of the child and the need to keep families together.
Special attention will be paid to discussing the situation of refugees and migrants and the impact of the external dimension of the EU's migration policy on the protection of their human rights, within which Minister of Immigration Policy of Greece Mr Dimitrios Vitsas will have a statement.
Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Mr Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister of Slovakia Mr Peter Pellegrini, and Minister for Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg Mr Jean Asselborn will address the Parliamentary Assembly this week. Secretary General of the Council of Europe Mr Thorbjørn Jagland will answer the questions posed by MPs, while the activities of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will be presented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia Ms Marija Pejčinović-Burić.
At the beginning of today's session, a member of the Swiss delegation Ms Liliane Maury Pasquier was elected President of the Parliamentary Assembly.
At this session, the Parliamentary Assembly will also elect a judge from San Marino to the European Court of Human Rights.
