The NATO Parliamentary Assembly, in cooperation with the Macedonian Parliament, will organise the 98th Rose Roth Seminar titled: “Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Western Balkans: Reinforcing the European Peace Project”, which will be held in Macedonia, from 27 to 29 June 2018.
The 98th Rose Roth Seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will gather more than a hundred of participants - parliamentarians from NATO member states and partner countries, senior officials mostly from the host country, representatives of international organisations, non-governmental sector, universities, as well as representatives of public opinion.
For the most part, the seminar will focus on fostering a discussion on the rule of law, administrative and judicial reforms in the Western Balkans, anti-corruption efforts, good neighbourly relations and stability in the region, migration crisis, NATO aspiration in this area, and the process of European integration of the host country. For this occasion, a debate is planned on the state of the media landscape and the impact of disinformation in the Western Balkans, inter-ethnic relations, and reforms in the defence and security sector.
The main goal of this NATO Parliamentary Assembly event is to provide a forum for sharing views on the internal and external challenges that the Western Balkan countries are facing, the issues of defence and security sector reform in the region, and to specifically address the issues of democratic governance and parliamentary oversight in this area.
