MP Ms Ćatović participated in the meeting of the PACE Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development

Member of the Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Ms Marija Ćatović participated in the meeting of the PACE Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development held in Lisbon on 17 and 18 September.

At the Committee meeting, attended by Ms Ćatović in her capacity as a member of this working body, debates were held on the role of national parliaments in the implementation of sustainable development goals, sustainable urban development, air quality and gas emissions in urban areas, provision of palliative care in European countries, and stress at work.

Ahead of the Autumn Session of the Parliamentary Assembly, the Committee considered and supported reports and draft resolutions regarding the issues of health needs of adolescents in Europe, the protection of the rights of persons with psychosocial disabilities, nuclear safety and security in Europe, as well as the anonymity of donors of reproductive cells and balancing the rights of parents, donors, and children.

Special attention was given to the debate on the role of national parliaments in successful decentralisation processes, within which members of the Committee exchanged views with the Portuguese Minister of Internal Administration Mr Eduard Cabrita and Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Mr Andreas Kiefer.

During the previous two days, the Portuguese Parliament also hosted meetings of the Sub-Committee on Public Health and Sustainable Development and the Sub-Committee on Children, which reported on the results of their work to the Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development.
