Delegation of the Parliament of Montenegro composed of Mr Predrag Sekulić, Head of Delegation, Ms Marija Ćatović, Mr Milan Knežević, Ms Sanja Pavićević and Mr Ervin Ibrahimović is taking part in the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), which has begun in Strasbourg today.
During the five-day session, the key topic of the Assembly will deal with the role of national parliaments in successful decentralisation processes, empowering women as key actors for integration, family reunification in member states and the radicalisation of migrants and diaspora communities. The Assembly will also discuss nuclear safety and security in Europe, access to member States by Council of Europe and United Nations human rights monitoring bodies as well as the treatment of Palestinian minors in the Israeli justice system.
The last regular session of the PACE in this year will be marked by a discussion on the strengthening the decision-making process of the Parliamentary Assembly concerning credentials and voting, when the proposals on amendments of the PACE’s Rules will be considered.
Minister for Foreign Affairs of Tunisia Mr Khemaies Jhinaoui will address the Assembly on day two of the session. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia Ms Marija Pejčinović-Burić will address the Committee of Ministers in her capacity of the Chair. She will inform on activities of the Committee during the previous four months while Secretary General Torbjorn Jagland will answer the questions of parliamentarians.
At this session, the Parliamentary Assembly will also elect a judge from Albania and Norway to the European Court of Human Rights.
